Back in 1985 Nintendo released a quirky side scrolling motocross racing game known as Excitebike. A major part of the games appeal was the track designer. Creating your own custom race course was an unheard of interactive concept back in those days. Unfortunately you couldn't save said masterpieces of track trickery. Moving ahead to 2009 Excitebike is back and thanks to such modern miracles as Flash memory, we'll finally get to replay and torture our friends with our fiendish creations - because you know the first thing you're going to do is create the toughest track you can and subject your friends to it. Announced via the new "Nintendo Week" videocast on the Wii's Nintendo Channel, Excitbike World Rally is a remake of the original in full 3D. The same controls styles are back, the same gameplay mechanics are back and as mentioned the same track editor is back. But added to the returning conventions are offline and online multiplayer and the ability to save and share your creations. Excitebike World Rally releases on WiiWare November 9th, 2009 for an as yet to be revealed number of points. |
